Aspen Lakes House
This Artisan Home was designed by Don for clients who purchased a lake front lot at Aspen Lakes Golf Course near Sisters. The 1-acre site is especially tranquil and the view of the lake is stunning.
The obvious design goal for this unique site was to leverage the magnificent views and complement the setting with a home designed as an extension of the site: Tranquil, peaceful and elegant.
Among the client’s objectives was to create a home that required absolute minimum maintenance, so they decided to build the home using Artisan’s Concrete Home Building System ( ICF Building System).
Other design goals were separation of guest suites from the master suite, large family entertaining space, a home office space, private “man cave”, walk-in conditioned wine cellar, a conditioned storage space for a 48’ motor coach and a separate storage area for seasonal furnishings.
The finished product achieved all of the design goals set forth by the clients. Additionally, the design maximizes the views of the lake from nearly every room in the home. This was accomplished by designing the home with a series of 22.5-degree angles, each viewing the lake from different directions.
Adding to the lodge ambiance is the timber and stone fireplace in the great room. The wood burning masonry fireplace is designed to burn logs 3 foot long cleanly and safely. A walk-in wood storage space is provided with outside access to stock the logs and a discreet interior access to retrieve the logs for building the fire.
The masonry exterior walls eliminate the need for painting, the concrete shake tile roof is nearly maintenance free, windows and window trim are aluminum clad wood and the patios, retaining walls, porches and walks are stone or concrete pavers with stone accents. This combination of materials will provide the Owners of this fine home decades of use with minimum exterior maintenance.
The home was featured in the 2010 COBA tour and received the following awards:
